Total Austral and UTN launch the first training program on hydrocarbon measurement and instrumentation in Neuquén

The program, due to start in August, shall award up to 25 grants financed by the Company and is intended to train qualified youths and meet the growing demand of the oil and gas industry in the province.

Total Austral Argentina and the Neuquén Branch of Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN) jointly worked on the design of the first Diploma on hydrocarbon measurement and instrumentation in the province.

The program’s objective is to provide tools and know-how to Neuquén youths interested in making a career in the gas and oil industry as well as to meet the growing demand for qualified personnel in the energy sector in the region.

The program provides a maximum of 25 grants to Neuquén students which shall be fully financed by Total Austral. The initiative is part of the company’s ambition to be a responsible operator and its commitment to development of the people who live and work close to its projects, as well as the sustainable growth of the Argentine energy sector.

The call for candidates was made through the social media, job portals and with the support of technical schools in the region. The selection was targeted mainly to youths under 25 residing in Neuquén with a high school diploma, preferably from technical schools, and good academic performance. The process, which took place from June to July this year, included group and individual interviews.

The first program edition is due to start on August 8 and shall cover two four-month periods. The course of studies, which comprises 200 class hours with an 84% devoted to theory and 16% to hands-on experience, shall be delivered at UTN’s Neuquén Branch. Hands-on experience shall be carried out at the Centro de Certificación y Capacitación de Oficios of the city of Cutral Co and during a visit to the Total Austral field.

This initiative is part of the program Educar para Crecer intended to promote education and social integration of children, youths and adults, mainly of populations close to Total Austral operations.
Educar para Crecer lies on four pillars: encouraging the completion of school education; promoting higher education; strengthening the skills of youths for their integration in the professional world; and leveraging the teaching capabilities of local professors.

With the development of this new technical training offer intended to Neuquén youths, Total Austral, together with its partners YPF, Panamerican Energy, Wintershall Dea and Shell, renews its commitment to a strategic, long term project, capable of providing a better, safe and long-lasting energy for all the country.
